ABOUT: Charla Hamilton
Charla Hamilton, born and raised in Jacksonville, Fl. Attended the University of North Florida and received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She has been a Labor and Delivery nurse for 5 years and have been a travel nurse working in Labor and Delivery for 3 years. Charla worked across the country in several settings/locations. Presently, she is studying for the board to be a Certified Nurse Midwife and will hopefully be practicing in Jacksonville, Fl. She will be graduating from Frontier Nursing University with her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nurse Midwifery in September of this year. She will be starting her Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner (DNP) this year. She is so passionate about Women’s Health and advocating for (moms and babies).
ABOUT: Lashica Moorer - Charley
Lashica is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida with 20 years of experience working with an array of populations in different settings. She has worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, work/life balance and ADHD. She also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma and/or emotional abuse. The approach she likes to take is meeting people right where they are. This includes teaching them skills that will help them reach the goals they have identified, so they can move forward in life being the best version of themselves. LaShica’s approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and person centered. She will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage and determination to take steps toward placing your goals above all the other things in life that takes so much of our time and attention.
ABOUT: Zakela J. Mickens
Zakela J. Mickens, is a 32-year-old, Jacksonville Native, Wife and Mother of 4. She is the founder of Powered By Chocolate Milk Co., providing Breastfeeding Education and Support, and Doula Services to Women in the Northeast Florida. Every year Powered By Chocolate Milk Co. hosts a Black Breastfeeding Week Event, to celebrate an honor women of color during their breastfeeding, journeys, by highlighting their stories of how they persevered and overcame challenges to getting off to a good start with Breastfeeding. Zakela has obtained her certifications as a Birth Doula, and Perinatal Educator. She also worked as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor with WIC through The Florida Department of Health in Duval and Baker County. Zakela is a dedicated community activist that advocates for several different causes within organizations such as FIGHTCRC; where she is an ambassador for Colorectal Cancer after being her brothers Caregiver in 2015, who passed away from Colon Cancer. She traveled to Washington DC, to meet with congressional leaders at Capitol Hill to discuss creating and expanding funds for Education and Research for Colon Cancer. She also is a Member of The Health Equity Collective; a community of health and equity leaders from all walks of life, who are envisioning a future for health justice and addressing a future for health justice and addressing systems of oppression in healthcare. Zakela recently completed the RISERS cohort with MomsRising; this cohort brings caregivers from all walks of life who represent the diversity that makes our country special. Zakela has dedicated her time, energy, and efforts to making a difference in the world to improve the social and economic determinants of health, in hopes of making an impact to change the world and make the world a better place for all families.
ABOUT: Bayyinah Tobey - Jackson
Bayyinah Tobey-Jackson, who is originally from Jacksonville, Florida, graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics after completing the Dietetics Internship Program with the Pasco County Health Department, which included rotations at Shands in Jacksonville and Gainesville, Florida. Bayyinah is also a certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES).
Bayyinah developed a passion for helping people, especially those diagnosed with diabetes, very early in her career, having worked as a nutrition education with the Duval and Orange County Health Departments’ WIC and Nutrition Program, as well as at Florida Hospital as a Clinical Dietician. However, it wasn’t until Bayyinah was given the opportunity to join the education team at the renowned Diabetes Institute that she really began to turn her passion to a purpose. Within a year of working as a diabetes education she became a Certified Diabetes Educator responsible for providing instruction to adult patients diagnosed with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, prediabetes and gestational diabetes. After leaving the diabetes Institute, she worked as a Clinical Dietitian at a long-term Care facility and with pediatric endocrinologist in Central Florida. In February 2021, Bayyinah proudly rejoined the team at Advent Health Diabetes Institute and continues to turn her passion to purpose.
ABOUT: Carla Hillard
Carla is a proud owner of Prestige Coaching Services, where she serves as a Certified Transformation Life Coach, Meditation Coach, and Etiquette Coach. With over 20 years of coaching experience,
She is known for being ambitious, dedicated, and resilient in helping individuals achieve their personal and professional goals. As a trainer and teacher, she had the privilege of guiding and motivating countless individuals on their transformative journeys.
Beyond my professional pursuits, she is a widow after 33 years of marriage, a mother of two, and a grandmother of one. Growing up as the fourth out of 11 siblings in Jacksonville, FL, Carla has always valued family and community. Prior to her coaching career, she retired after 25 years in the medical health insurance arena and spent 13 years as the CEO/Founder of Youth Empowerment Services of Jacksonville, a non-profit organization that continues to make a positive impact today.
Additionally, as the proud founder of YES JAX and she had the privilege of being an etiquette coach for organizations such as the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council and the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida. As a community partner with the United Way of Northeast Florida, she has been involved in their Full School Services program, as well as collaborating with numerous religious organizations throughout the Northeast Florida communities.
